Winterluxe Recycled Cashmere began in the early 2000's as an unnamed winter accessory division of designer Janna Hurtzig's main company Astrosatchel Accessories.
Janna's interest in bridging environmental conservation and fashion led her to greater focus on finding ways to reduce dependance on new textiles, while keeping items consistent in quality and style. In 2010, Winterluxe Recycled Cashmere became her main focus, selling first from her Vancouver Studio and later at in person markets across Canada including One of a Kind Show in Toronto, Circle Craft, Shiny Fuzzy Muddy, Make It, First Pick Handmade, Blim Market and IDS West in Vancouver, Art Market and New Craft Coalition in Calgary, Our Best To You in Red Deer, Saskatoon and Regina, Scattered Seeds in Winnipeg, Out of Hand in Victoria, Butterdome Craft Sale and Make It in Edmonton, Touch of Talent in Sherwood Park and Originals Craft Fair in Ottawa.
With Covid-19 bringing a temporary halt to in-person markets, Winterluxe Recycled Cashmere has shifted to online sales via our own website and online markets.
Handmade is at the heart of everything we do. Each item is cut by hand, sewn in studio, laundered and finished in our Vancouver studio, so we are involved in every step of the items journey from concept to customer's closet.
We're constantly looking for ways to use even more textiles that were otherwise unwanted, and to decrease our studio waste further by using *more* of the textiles we find by creating new products that use smaller pieces or offset elements. Each year Winterluxe Recycled Cashmere handpicks and repurposes 250 lbs of textiles, so you can feel good about looking good in our designs.
